A February morning scene at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, south of Portland Oregon. They have a nice blind from which to observe wildlife –and which can (or at least could) be reserved for free. However…

The first thing I noticed when I got there was that all the local birds (mainly ducks and a couple of eagles) were quite aware of ’something funny’ going on in the little hut (blind) and stayed well away. Perhaps previous occupants had been careless / noisy /tried to get shots of birds scrambling to take off, or all of the above.

On the other hand, this Cormorant, probably passing through, seemed quite unaware of my presence. Perhaps the morning fog helped in that regard, too
