The naming of wildflowers goes back to the beginnings of human language. As it happens, the shrub that produces this flower has a bark that peels back in many layers, so they named it “ninebark.”

…”Whatever”   :)

I can understand that thinking. But… apparently one variety of this flower is called: “Ninebark Diabolo” (?!) What the heck… who can explain this to me… what does the devil have to do with a pretty wildflower?
