A bear story

Early Spring on the shores of ice-covered Yellowstone lake. We saw each other at the same time, then he started walking toward me. He stopped at a few yards and turned around. Then repeated, unsure of which way to go. (It later became apparent he wanted to cross into a meadow and I was in the way.) In his walking away segments I was able to aim my camera with a reasonably steady hand; when walking toward me… hmm… that’s strange… I can’t seem to find those photos… :)

Odd neighbors, cast in stone

To early pioneers of the mid-19th century, the middle pile of stones looked like a “Washer Woman” so that is what they named it. The structure to the right they named: “Monster Tower”. In this scene, these two odd neighbors made of stone, are seen from, and framed by, the famous “Mesa Arch”, a half mile away, in Utah’s Canyonlands National Park.
